Interiors

The interior finishings that you choose for your home will help define it's character. Is your home a very contemporary style with very clean lines and lots of modern finishes or is your home more rustic with darker color floors and hickory cabinets. There are a lot of decisions to be made here, but at Blue Ridge Homes we can help with all those decisions with our in house interior designer. In order to help organize this section we have broken this section down to flooring, finish carpentry, fixtures, and kitchen.

Flooring

FlooringThe flooring category has as multitude of options available. From hardwood to vinyl and everything in between it is easy to see how vast amounts of money can be saved or spent. At Blue Ridge Homes we typically install hardwood, ceramic and carpet as our flooring choices.

  • Hardwood Flooring - Hardwood floors add a beautiful and natural touch. They also add value to your home and are highly praised in the resale home market. Today's hardwood floors have made advances in style, durability, maintenance and care, making them more widely usable throughout the home. With simple sweeping or vacuuming and occasional spot cleaning, wood floors will last a lifetime. There are hundreds of choices in style and color with today's options spanning into exotic hardwoods. Most wood floors are available in several grades in a wide range of prices.
  • Ceramic Flooring - Ceramic floor tile is made from clay which is baked at very high temperatures, resulting in an attractive and very hard surface. Ceramic floor tile is a varied material, some types glazed with a layer of liquid glass, others left untreated for a more natural, rustic appeal. It is worthwhile learning about the right kind of ceramic floor tile to ensure that the type you choose is the one that is most appropriate for your installation. Overall, ceramic floor tile is very low maintenance, particularly in terms of keeping the surface clean. Ceramic floor tile retains virtually no dirt and can be kept clean with water and a damp cloth or mop. Ceramic floor tile is also naturally fire resistant and can actually help to maintain a structure in the event of a fire, making it popular choice of flooring material by the safety conscious.
  • Carpet - Use carpet to introduce color and texture to your decorating scheme, while generating the feelings of warmth, comfort and homeliness. It helps create a quiet and peaceful living environment, doesn't show the dust and you will find carpet is relatively easy to clean.

Finish Carpentry

Finish CarpentryFinish carpentry makes the eye work hard and skip over imperfections. At this point, the framing carpenter has made the house plumb, level and square. Or not. A good framer can ease the finish carpenter's job by providing plumb walls and plenty of blocking for nailers for attaching trim. Or not. But even if the framer couldn't read a level and even if he added no more blocking than was absolutely necessary, the finish carpenter's job is to make the doors, windows and cabinets work, and to make the house look good.

Fixtures

FixturesHere is an item where a person could spend an eternity making a decision, simply because the options are limitless. Do I want chrome faucets or brass? Do I want wall sconces or recessed lighting on the stairwell? Do I want a jet tub or garden tub? and so on and so forth. It is important to give as much time as possible to these decision and to make sure and coordinate all fixtures to blend together.
To keep everything as simple as possible lets just look briefly at electrical fixtures and plumbing fixtures.

  • Electrical - This category would include all light fixtures, wall switchs, wall plugs, cover plates, home theater wiring, etc... As mentioned above the options out there are unimaginable and the prices can range from a few bucks to thousands for one individual piece. Let Blue Ridge Homes guide you through all the tough decisions and stream line your process.
  • Plumbing - Basically, plumbing fixtures are devices that’s part of a plumbing system, needed to “deliver and drain” water, at the same time as being designed to enable a specific use. The most common plumbing fixtures include water closets or flush toilets, urinals, bathroom sinks, utility sinks, bathtubs, bidets, showers, terminal valves, hose bibs, and kitchen sinks.
“Tapware” is often the term used in the industry for the sub-category of these plumbing fixtures that consists of faucets or watertaps, and its accessories like shower heads and water spouts.
Most Common Types Of Plumbing Fixtures
Manufacturers of both residential and commercial plumbing fixtures have become very innovative in supplying an extensive range of finishes, shapes, colors, and even the themes for faucets, trim, and fixtures. Taking benefit from these alternatives and integrating them into the plumbing design will create an effective and pleasing environment for homeowners.
Every plumbing fixture isn’t created equal. They must be chosen based on one’s needs, construction conditions, code requirements, budget considerations, and aesthetic requirements.
