As a builder of fine homes in Buncombe, Madison and surrounding counties in WNC, we here at Blue Ridge Homes find that it is the attention to detail and the strength of our relationships with clients that sets us apart. We feel that the only way to get the job done properly is by having open lines of communication. With a thorough understanding of your project we can suggest a variety of building materials and techniques to best complete the project.
Below you will find the construction process broken down into its individual components. Please click on any of the links for more information.
Green & Efficient Building
At Blue Ridge Homes we want to make sure our clients understand the terminology used in Green Building and High Efficiency Building. We will take a brief look at these processes and weigh the costs associated with each.
Site Selection
If we were like most builders we would sit around and wait for a client to come to us with their lot already purchased. At Blue Ridge Homes we know that one of the single most important aspects of custom building is selecting the right building lot and then being able to properly site the house.
Grading
Once you have chosen the right building site, the next step is to choose your grader. Beware!!! There are lots of folks with some equipment going around calling themselves "graders." However, they may not know the first thing about properly cutting your home site and roads.
Foundations
Once our grader has cleared and dug out the house seat its time for the foundation.
Framing
It will come as no surprise, that framing is one of the most crucial phases of construction. It is also one of the best phases, because from day to day you can see your house taking shape.
Mechanicals
This is where the physical transformation of your house slows to a crawl. It is sometimes hard to see the changes when its electrical wires, AC duct work and plumbing.
Interiors
As the owner you will be heavily involved in all manner of decision making. Your flooring, kitchen, paint colors, electrical and plumbing fixtures all have to be selected, but this adds a lot of personality to your home.
