Whether it be a large land tract or a residential building lot, if there is not a survey available that has been performed in at least the last 10 years, stop immediately and have one performed.

At Blue Ridge Homes, as with most lending institutions, we insist that all our clients have a professional survey before commencing with any project. In general, there are two basic types of surveys and they can be completed to many varying degrees of detail.

* Boundary Survey – Shows the actual boundary of a property and its calculated acreage.

* Topographical Survey – Includes the boundary survey, but in addition adds another layer to also show the property's topographical contours to help determine valleys, knolls, steepness, etc.
